Accountibility = Motivation

How is your to-do list going?

That’s right, I’m checking in on you because I know that you likely have a very full mental to-do list. Some of the things on your list are fun activities that you don’t want to miss out on, but I’m positive for many of you the list also includes a bunch of chores and even larger projects like cleaning out the garage!

So.

How is your list coming along?

I only ask because being accountable to another person is so important. In the same way that you do a whirlwind clean of the house when you know you have company coming for dinner, when my clients know I am coming they don't want to wait and often get started before I even arrive! Just a little bit of accountability can go a long way.

When people know that someone is going to see and share in their progress, they are more motivated to accomplish what they’ve set out to do. Being accountable to someone is a great way to ensure that your next project not only gets started, but gets finished in a timely way.

The next time you decide to start a large project of any kind, make a plan and then recruit a family member or friend to hold you accountable.

  • make sure they understand your goals
  • ask them to check in on your progress and give encouragement
  • invite them to celebrate with you when the job is complete!

Do you need an accountability partner for your next organizing project? I can help!
